Sunil S. Jhangiani, MD is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Physician Nutrition Specialists. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and enjoys active memberships in the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).As Chief of Clinical Nutrition at Our Lady of Mercy University Medical Center and Chief of Endoscopy at its Florence D’Urso Pavilion, Dr. Jhangiani also chairs the Nutrition Care Committee. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College and has served on the Credentialing and Performance Committee at Aetna US Healthcare and the Managed Care Task Force of the Nutrition Screening Initiative (NSI). Dr. Jhangiani has authored several clinical research papers in his areas of expertise in numerous peer review journals and has presented his work at national and international professional meetings.Dr. Jhangiani’s credentials are not just limited to the field of medicine. In 1996, he enrolled in the MBA program for Physicians at the University of South Florida, Tampa, passing with full honors in 1998. While working on his MBA, Dr. Jhangiani completed a 1-year training in Operations Management at Aetna US HealthCare under Dr. Richard Bernstein, senior corporate medical director, subsequently working as an Associate Medical Director for 6 months. Presented with the opportunity of working with leading health care analyst, Mr. Kenneth S. Abramowitz of Sanford C. Bernstein, Dr. Jhangiani received still more additional training in managed care strategy and health care financial analysis. In January 2001, Dr. Jhangiani passed the board certification examination given by the American Board of Managed Care Medicine, which attested to his expertise in delivering patient-centered care for populations of health plan members. With this background, Dr. Jhangiani is a frequently invited speaker at gastroenterology, clinical nutrition and managed care forums. In 2001 and 2002 he was a participant in debates regarding the future of the health care system in America. His key note speech, entitled “Health Care in America: Reform through Communication” on September 28th 2002 at the 8th annual convention of the American Communication Association held at Georgetown University in Washington DC was published in the April 15th 2003 issue of Vital Speeches of the Day.
